Monday Musings

We spent another amazing weekend exploring Oahu. On Saturday, we went to a new (for us) beach. We went to the beach at Barbers Point, near Barbers Point Coast Guard Station. It was a beautiful afternoon, although it won’t be a beach near the top of our list to return to. I was explaining to my parents that for a beach to be a “favorite” here, it has to have more than just the ocean and sand. We now require other beautiful scenery that we can enjoy around the the water as well. I know, we’re becoming total divas.

On Sunday, we started near Kailua and headed north to finish our drive around the full island. The east coast (windward side) is lush, green, and rainier than the west side, and man is it stunning. The mountains come right up to the water and it’s just fantastic. We drove up to the North Shore and than back down the middle of the island to Ewa Beach.

We had the inspection of the house we’re buying on Friday and are in negotiations over repairs, so keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly. We have to be out of our rental by December 14th, so we’re holding our breath that we not only are able to buy this house, but also that we can get closing moved up a week so we can move straight into that house. No big deal, right?

Coming Up This Week:

  • If you’re friends with me on Facebook, you know that I actually wrote all 3 blog posts that I promised you last Monday, but one of them I lost just as I was finalizing the formatting. So. Incredibly. Frustrating. So I’ll be rewriting that post. And writing all blog posts in Google Drive now so I can auto-save it…as I sit here realizing that I’m not doing that on this post. Oops.

  • At Chris’ insistence, I’m going to list the beaches we’ve been to so far and rank them. He’s very excited about this so we can keep track of them.

  • And I’m also going to do a blog post about what I’m doing for employment now, and how it’s been being unemployed.

Currently:

Doing: These paint-by-number canvasses. I did one of a turtle that I finished while we were in quarantine, and now am doing one of an Italian village. I never would have thought that I would enjoy them, but I really do! And Chris actually wants to hang the turtle in the new house.

Wearing: Shorts. Tshirts. Tank tops. I won’t lie, after working at a job where I had to be dressed up everyday, now living in a place where it’s always in the 80s and my shorts and flip flops are perfectly acceptable, it’s been pretty damn nice. Enjoy your scarves and mittens. We’ll go sit on the beach some more.

Cooking: I might make this Thai Coconut Shrimp Curry once a week. So freaking good, and really easy. My kind of recipe.

I have at least 3 trips to the beach planned for this week. Life is good.
