I’m Caroline, he’s Chris. For 12 years we lived in our too-big house with our two big dogs. We woke up one day and realized that was not the life we wanted. So we started over in Hawaii.

We built the life we thought we wanted. We had the big house with the nice yard. We had the jobs (I’m a lawyer and Chris is a software engineer). We had the loving friends and family. But the life we had built was the one we thought we were going to have, not the one we actually had. We started asking ourselves a question that we had never asked before - what do we actually want our life to look like?

When we bought the big house in the great community with good schools, we planned to raise kids. After years of infertility, we finally decided to pursue a childfree life. But we felt stuck in a life that was built for children that we didn’t have.

Finally, we took control. In September 2020, I left my job, we sold our house and most of our belongings and we moved to Hawaii with 4 suitcases and 2 dogs. We arrived on October 8, 2020 and lived in a 400 square foot studio apartment for almost 3 months. We closed on a new house in Ewa Beach, Hawaii (pronounced Eh-va) in December, bought a Jeep Wrangler (because what else do you drive in Hawaii?!) and started building a new life.

This blog is both a place where we keep friends and family updated on our new lives, and where we have deep discussions on where we are in our journey to creating the life we want.
